About me
Sarah joined the School & Community Partnerships team at Seattle Public Schools in a newly created position in October 2019 to focus on strengthening the partnership with the City of Seattle’s Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) and the implementation of the Families, Education, Preschool and Promise (FEPP) Levy. In this role, she works to support schools and community partners to build strong, effective, integrated partnerships aligned to DEEL and SPS goals. In her time at SPS, her work has expanded to improving and systematizing expanded learning opportunities for SPS students and advocating for the ways in which youth serving community-based organizations can play a role. A favorite part of her work is supporting school principals and CBO leaders in building strong partnerships that lead to engaging and enriching learning opportunities for students after school and in the summer.
Originally from North Dakota, she attended college in Minnesota and Washington, taught English in Turkey and France, and now calls Seattle home where she is a proud parent to two middle and high school daughters who she learns from on the daily. When she isn’t working to streamline and desilo educational systems, she is driving her daughters to activities and cheering them on at games, taking her dog for a walk or running along Lake Washington.
